I created Pincurl Girls as a result of my years in graduate school. After a short time in my MFA program, I lost my self-confidence. I didn’t think I was good enough, smart enough or the “right” kind of artist. Those were the hardest three years of my life.

Then, I started drawing my inner child to help me cope with all those doubts. Her voice was so strong, that even after my confidence returned, my inner child continued to speak to me and was my muse and guidance counselor throughout grad school.

Since then, she has matured along with me and now we both want to encourage other girls to avoid self-doubt by looking for happiness, expressing their artistic talents and believing in themselves.

I hope my Pincurl Girls inspires other girls like you, to believe in yourself, to find your voice, and to grow your self-esteem.
